Marcus Aurelius Probus (c.232-282) Roman Emperor 276-282 A.D. His reign saw the Germans driven out of Gaul, the barbarians driven from the Rhaetian, Pannonian, and Thracian frontiers, and Persia forced to agree to peace. Having no further enemies, Probus employed the soldiers in public works. A group of them rebelled and murdered him (October, 282).
