[Up] [Dromo's Den] Marius Image Gaius Marius (c.156-86 B.C.) A Roman general. Marius annihilated the Teutones in Transalpine Gaul at Aquć Sextae, now Aix, in Provence, where as many as 200,000 Teutones were slain. After this he overthrew the Cimbri on the Raudian Fields, near Vercellae.(101 B.C.). Marius was declared the savior of the state and the third founder of Rome.
