[Up] [Dromo's Den] Louis XI Image Louis XI (1423-83). King of France from 1461 to 1483. Louis XI reduced the feudal lords and made the central power paramount. He also encouraging manufacturing, commerce, and mining; improved the public roads and canals, and aided in establishing printing presses. J. N.
