Stephen Decatur Biography

Stephen Decatur (1779-1820) U.S. naval officer and hero, killed in a duel. On Feb. 16, 1804, with a small party, he burned the frigate Philadelphia, which had been captured by the Tripolitans. Admiral Nelson pronounced this act "the most daring of the age,"
