Catharine de Medici (1519-89 ). Queen of Henry II of France and daughter of Lorenzo de' Medici (Lorenzo the Magnificent). She plotted with the Guise family, resulting in the slaughter of Huguenots in the infamous St. Bartholomew Day Massacre.
