[Up] [Dromo's Den] Gaspard de Coligny Image Gaspard de Coligny (1517-72). Admiral of France and Huguenot leader. He was murdered in the Massacre of St. Bartholomew (Aug. 24 1572). Coligny attempted to secure asylum for the Huguenots and sent expeditions to colonize what is now the southeastern part of the United States. J. N.
