Alfonso de Albuquerque (1453-1515). Viceroy of the Portuguese Indies. Albuquerque captured Goa in 1510, then conquered Malabar, Ceylon, the Sunda Isles, the peninsula of Malacca, and the island of Ormuz, at the entrance of the Persian Gulf.
